Bio

Vertical Limit is an original rock band from Oceanside California.  They play positive, fun music that ranges from rock to jazz with blues, ska influences and some funk.

Founding members Bruce Vancleave (vocals) and Rory Callewaert (guitar) have been friends for over 25 years.  For the last 10 years they played together in 'A Band of Brothers' which featured a rotating group of musicians that were friends and brothers from coast to coast.

Steve Baessler (drums) became a permanent member in early 2016 after jamming with the band and playing in other bands with Rory over the years.  Steve has been playing drums since he was 5 years old.  He never looks as happy as when he is playing drums!

Later in 2016 Jason Shephard (bass) joined the band after seeing 'A Band of Brothers' preform at a local Oceanside venue.  Jason is couple generations younger than the rest of the band and adds a new level of energy.

Rory's Son, Alex Callewaert regularly joins the band on stage.  His psychedelic keyboard style and guitar work takes the band to a new level.

In November of 2018 the band released their debut self-titled album.  From the toe tapping rocking tracks like 'Sun and Rain', 'Can't Breathe' and 'Love Train' to the mellow jazz feel of 'JT Cafe'.  They even explore a more funky sound in 'Trainwreck' and touch on their own form of ska with 'Happy Nations'.
The 11 tracks really capture the variety of styles that make up Vertical Limit.
